The PDW-U1 is the most affordable addition to the XDCAM line-up

XDCAM is the bestselling, most affordable and most widely supported tapeless acquisition system for broadcast and professional applications. Both SD and SD/HD switchable XDCAM products are available now.

The PDW-U1 extends the IT credentials of XDCAM by offering a simple and portable drive that can be used with a PC or Mac for viewing purposes (using free Sony software) or full read/write* access with a compatible NLE.

The PDW-U1 also supports the use of Dual Layer XDCAM media. Recording onto Dual Layer discs (50GB) is a feature of a range of new Sony products, including the PDW-F355 and PDW-F335 XDCAM HD camcorders, and the PDW-F75 XDCAM HD deck.

Dual Layer Ready

The PDW-U1 houses a drive that supports both Single layer (23GB) and Dual layer (50GB) media[br]- Dual layer discs allow over 3 hours of DVCAM and over 4 hours of MPEG HD to be recorded at 18Mb/s, and more than 145 minutes at 35Mb/s.

The PDW-U1 is the most affordable deck in the XDCAM product line-up.
